Her body turns to the left

and she opens her eyes

The morning sun lights up the room

Beige pillows on the floor surround the bed

Robins can be heard singing their tunes outside

“Good morning”, she says

Her partner lifts his head

A shadow of a beard drawn upon his face

He leans in to kiss her forehead

“Where did you go?”, she asks

An empty bed with covers pulled back

She begins to weep

but no tears come out

It is dark again and she needs to rest

The moonlight glow shines through the curtains

As she lays down

she turns to the right

She closes her eyes

and says, “Good night”.
